In this time of the pandemic, I have been really concerned about my friends who work in the arts and how they are faring. A dear friend of mine is a director for a circus in Australia and I saw this post that he wrote on Facebook. He writes:
“For those of you who don’t know, this [image above] is a photo of a ‘ghost light’, which is left on a stand onstage when a theatre is dark or unattended. Theatres are designed to be pitch dark when the lights are out, so the ghost light means there’s a low level of safe light, if anyone arrives in the dark. It also symbolizes that the theatre is not abandoned, and performances will return. At this dark moment in the live performing arts, it symbolizes hope that life will return to our stages.”
My dear friends, know that a light is lit in the sanctuary for you. The church is not abandoned, and services will return one day. Don’t lose heart. Soon and very soon, this will all be over. Until that time, know that I, “Thank my God every time I remember you.” Philippians 1:3
