Youth Enrichment Session (Y.E.S.)

Parkview Presbyterian Church provides a safe, welcoming, and nurturing space for children to explore and grow their faith. Teachers have been vetted and have passed FBI screening per Presbytery requirements.

At 10 a.m. on Sunday mornings, children sit in the sanctuary with their family members to experience intergenerational worship and congregational singing.  After a special time for them during Children’s Message, they are invited to attend Y.E.S. during the rest of the service. Please advise the Y.E.S. teachers of any food allergies in case there are plans to make or eat food.

Y.E.S. adds Keiki Time when two teachers are available to team-teach. During these joint YES/KT classes, children younger than kindergarten-age are able to participate with help in some of the activities with the older kids. In addition, a pre-school appropriate activity is provided. On other Sundays, little ones can play in the toy room up on the balcony level or remain in the sanctuary. Please check the Y.E.S. calendar on this page for any updates to the Y.E.S. schedule.

A Sample of Y.E.S. Activities

Youth Mission Day. The 2026 Youth Mission Day focused on making lunches for homeless and at-risk youth and delivering them to our neighbor, Wind Youth Services.

Religion. Teachers go over Bible stories to enrich the children’s understanding of the Bible. Here we are enjoying some Moses cupcakes after a lesson on the Exodus.

Matthew 25. We often organize activities that reinforce Parkview’s commitment to being a Matthew 25 church: to act boldly and compassionately to see our neighbors through Jesus’s eyes and serve those who are marginalized or in need. Here the kids learned how to knit and worked on scarves to gift to unhoused people.

“Cooking” Classes. We sometimes make food during our Y.E.S. sessions. Here we gave a nod to the Japanese heritage of the church and made “sushi.” This sushi was very popular as it consisted of Rice Krispies treats, fruit roll-ups, and a variety of candies.

Annual Pool Party. Teachers, kids, and their families gather every summer to enjoy a wonderful dip in the pool and the fellowship around a delicious potluck meal.
