Do not cast me off in the time of old age…
Psalm 71:9
I recently came across the following video of May Lee, not our May Lee at Parkview, but May Lee who works for the California Department of General Services. If you can believe it, just last week she celebrated her 77th anniversary working for the California government. What? 77 years?! Yes! She also just celebrated her 100th birthday as well! What? Still working at the age of 100?! Yes!
I could hardly believe it when I came across this story: talk about being vibrant, being a hard worker, and full of energy. I love that May Lee is still contributing at 100 years old. Clearly, she could have retired decades before, but clearly, she loves her work and it keeps her motivated. It reminds me of Sarah in the Bible when she had a baby at the age of 90. Just because someone is older doesn’t mean they have nothing to contribute. Sometimes it’s our older community members that have the most to offer.
