“But those who WAIT upon the Lord will renew their strength.”
Isaiah 40:30
Waiting, waiting, waiting…seems like we spend half our lives waiting. We go to the doctor’s office and we wait. Then we finally get taken in to a smaller room to see the doctor and we wait. And then we wait some more until the doctor comes in.
We wait in lines at the banks and we wait in line for drive through coffee. We wait at grocery store checkouts and we wait for test results. We are accustomed to waiting and now…we wait for election results. We typically know who our president will be on election day, but these are unprecedented times. It may be days or weeks when this presidential elction will finally be called. So…we wait. Some may wait with anxiety and hope and some on pins and needles and some wait with prayers for peace and unity. These presidential election results are being watched by the world so we are all holding our collective breath, waiting to exhale. So in this time of…waiting…I encourage you to lean into the scriptures. Here is one of my all time favorites:
God gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and the young stumble and fall;
but those who WAIT upon the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
