“Let all that you do be done in love.”
1 Corinthians 16:14
I remember hearing Cornel West speak a few years ago at the Mondavi Center. He is originally from Sacramento and one of the world’s leading activists and professors in justice. Out of the thousands of people who were there to hear him speak, I was honored that my question was chosen for him to answer. I asked, “Was Jesus a Democrat or a Republican?”
Of course I did not expect him to choose either party, but his answer still surprised me and I loved it. Cornel said, “Jesus was neither. He was a love machine.” His answer has stayed with me all these years later. May we all be love machines where we love everyone regardless of their background or where they come from or how they vote. Jesus was neither blue nor red, he just loved equally and challenged everyone equally. May we all follow suit and be love machines!
