“I thank my God every time I think of you.”
Philippians 1:3
It’s the day after Thanksgiving and like my table, I can imagine that your dinner table looked much different this year compared to other years. I’m sure that some of our tables had masks or were much smaller in number or had zoom calls to connect us with family members. This is a Thanksgiving like no other that we have ever experienced. We had no idea what a privilege it was to be in one another’s presence.
Imagine what our Thanksgiving dinners will be like a year from now! What a celebration that will be! But until that day, we need to ask ourselves what we can be thankful for. Where is that we can celebrate? Where is it that we can be connected when we are apart? Where is it that we can find joy even though our hearts may be breaking? What are you thankful for? We asked this question around my small dinner table last night and it was beautiful to hear our gratitudes. It filled my heart to the brim. It’s difficult to be unhappy and grateful at the same time. So I hope you had a very Happy Thanksgiving filled with gratitude and love for all the things that are going your way verses all the things that are not. As the old hymn says, “Let us count our blessings, one by one.”
