“At the dawn of the new year I’m filled with hope for what is to come!”
Psalm 96:1
A prayer for the Lunar New Year
Gracious and loving God as we pray for this Year of the Ox, we pray for us to let go of what has not served us and embrace the new. As challenging and painful this last year has been, give us hope to look to the future and embrace our community even though we are physically a part. We pray for the end of this pandemic and that we will be able to be in one another’s presence sooner than later. We pray for the distribution of this vaccine and that it will be able to be disseminated quickly and efficiently; to help bring ease of mind and stronger health to all front line workers and the vulnerable. Like the ox who is gentle and noble, honest and a hard worker, we pray that we, too, can take on the traits of the ox in this new year. May we be able to help plow out paths that have been covered with the debris of despairpl and make new, clear paths to hope and recovery. This prayer we pray, through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
