2023 Easter Service Concert Trio
We are so honored to be able to welcome this talented concert trio, who will perform during worship service. Everyone is welcome to attend. Here are their biographies:
Igor Veligan, violin
Igor Veligan, a native of Ukraine, got his music education in Odessa State conseratory, UA before immigrating to the US in 1996. Professor Veligan teaches violin and viola at University of the Pacific Conservatory of Music. Together with his colleague and pianist Natsuki Fukasawa, he performed the program in US and Europe, featuring Armenian composer Arno Babadjanian, Ukrainan composer Myroslav Skoryk and Romanian composer George Enescu, and released a CD titles Voices of Eastern Europe. Mr. Veligan is a dedicated teacher. He is investing his passion love of music, and his professional skills into his students and younger generation musicians. Igor Veligan’s interests include spending time and traveling with his family, playing chess, building and flying remote controlled aircraft. Since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine in 2022, Mr. Veligan performs numerous fundraisers to aid the needs of Ukrainian people in their fight for freedom and democracy.
Natsuki Fukasawa, piano
Steinway Artist Natsuki Fukasawa has performed in Australia, Brazil, China, Denmark, England, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Japa, Mexico, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and the U.S. She is a recipient of the Best Chamber Music Recording of the Year from the Danish Music Awards. Dr. Fukasawa teaches at both University of the Pacific Conservatory of Music and at UC Davis, and serves on the artist faculty for the Talis Festival and Academy in Switzerland, Orfeo Music where her students’ accomplishments include appearences in the NPR show From the Top, winning top prizes in Chopin National Competition, MTAC Young Artist Guild, Philladelphia International Competition, and more. Dr. Fukasawa’s teachers include Tim Fredericksen in Denmark and Ferenc Rados in Hungary. She has studied at the Juilliard School and the University of Maryland and Prague Academy of Music as a Fulbright Scholar. Dr. Fukasawa enjoys running, hiking, tap dancing and playing with her two kitties.
Michael Dahlberg, cello
A chamber musician noted for his “sensitivity and coloristic playing” (The New York Times), Michael has built a career exploring music as a vehicle for learning and community-building. Following graduation from New England Conservatory (NEC) in Boston, he led projects aimed at revitalizing the way classical music was presented and taught around New England-from a chamber music parlor series at local jazz clubs to immersive orchestral experiences in breweries, string quartet residencies in the Boston Public Schools, and more. Michael’s projects earned award and leadership roles from NEEC, the St. Botolph Club, and Tanglewood Music Center and NPR’s “From the Top” where he designed and facilitated over 80 interactive music events across 45 US cities for over 13,000 audience members of all ages. In 2017, Michael relocated to the Bay Area where he was fortunate to play with regional ensembles including the San Jose Chamber Orchestra and Symphony Silicon Valley and serve as cello faculty at San Jose State University. Michael now resides in the Sacramento area with his wife, daughter and 13-pound cat, Gus enjoying a triple life as Product Manager for a tech startup, musician, and father.
